Celebrate Earth Month with the whole family as the Waikiki Aquarium opens its gates for the City & County of Honolulu's 5th Annual Mauka to Makai Environmental Expo! Enjoy hands-on educational displays, ocean-related arts and crafts for the keiki and great prize giveaways. Be there at 11:30 when dozens of moi are released into their new home in the ocean! This family-friendly event will have hands on educational displays and showcase more than 20 city, state, and federal agencies that are aimed to preserve and protect Hawaii's environment. There will be an emphasis on the Island's unique water resources from mauka to makai. Great for kids…great for adults! Park at Waikiki Elementary School for free shuttle service. Mauka to Makai Expo Tentative Schedule 9:00 am to 10:00 am Doors open to public for Mauka to Makai Expo. Arrival of VIP's and guests. Welcome and announcements by Emcee (booths, highlights, displays, complete surveys to win prizes, videos, 15 stamps in passports to get free plant). Mayor Carlisle and Wyland (World Renown Artist) to speak and greet guests. 10:00 am to 10:30 am Entertainment by Kapono (Introduction by Wyland) 10:30 am to 11:00 am Emcee introduces (ENV Director – Tim Steinberger, Mayor – Peter Carlisle, and DOH Deputy Director – Gary Gill, Waikiki Aquarium Director – Dr. Andrew Rossiter, and World Renown Artist – Wyland) Emcee - Last call for 1st drawing entries after VIP introduction/speak. 11:00 am Emcee - child prize-aquarium kit, adult prize - 2 beach chairs, family prize -family pass to Waikiki Aquarium. 1st Prize Giveaways (start at 11:00 am) – Mayor, Director, and Deputy Director pull names. 11:15 am to 11:30pm Emcee to direct crowd to Moi Release. 11:30 am to 12:00 pm Moi Release. (Mayor, ENV Director and/or Gary Gill to speak afterward – optional) 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm Entertainment by Willie K (Introduction by Wyland) 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm Continue with booths.
