Description
Feb 6-Jun 30 2012, Honolulu Academy of Arts Environmental artist Patrick Dougherty is coming to town to create a site-specific work on the front lawn of the Academy!   Feb. 6 and 7 he will be at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden with artist Leland Miyano harvesting invasive species to use in his work.  Then from Feb. 9 to 24 you'll see him working at the museum, twisting and weaving tree saplings to create a large, organic sculpture. Dougherty began working on simple structures in 1980s and since then has created more than 200 sculptures around the world.  Want to work with an internationally known artist?: We are looking for volunteers to work with Patrick Dougherty, doing things like helping strip saplings. Open spots are available on Feb. 9, 10, 11, 12 and 20-25. Choose from two shifts-9am-noon or 1-4pm.
