DESCRIPTION:Come experience some of the best in contemporary Native Hawaiian art. Inspired by the words of Sam Ka\'ai\, this exhibit invites over a dozen Hawaiian artists to explore their own "niu" aspirations - be they cultural\, social\, or political. Their artistic creations embody a complex layering of pain\, pride and purpose that is perhaps best illustrated by the work of MAMo 2012 Awardee Puhipau\, whose film company\, Na Maka O Ka Aina\, has documented the struggles and successes of the Hawaiian community for over 30 years.  Brought together by Bishop Museum\, PA\'I Foundation & The ARTS at Marks Garage and funded by the Native Hawaiian Culture and Arts Project.
