Honolulu, HI - The Grammy Award winning group, OZOMATLI, returns to Hawaii with special guest, Chali 2na! Look for shows in Kona, Maui, and Oahu January 29, 30, and 31!
One of the best live bands touring today, this high octane group was born from the streets of Los Angeles. They balance a dual identity as a voice of their city and as citizens of the world. Their music, a cultural-mashing of musical styles, has been described as new school musical activism. With it they traveled to Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East throughout 2007, serving as U.S. State Department Cultural Ambassadors. Since then, the 8-piece group has returned to the spotlight. Their music has been heard on television shows and they have made special appearances such as the widely acclaimed performance of their hit song 'Esa Morena' on ABC's Dancing With The Stars earlier this year.
Joining them on tour recently has been alternative hip-hop artist and former member, Chali 2na. Also known for founding Jurassic 5, Chali's return has been an exciting addition to the group and fans across the country. Look for Chali 2na at all three shows this January as he will be making the trip out to Hawaii with Ozomatli!
